About us

Thermaxa zero carbon steam

Who we are

A proven team of leaders who have pioneered and built major renewable energy companies across solar PV, solar thermal, and battery storage.

We’re leveraging this 70 years of cleantech expertise to build our next renewables champion, a Clean Heat leader driving decarbonization of industrial & city heating.

What we do

We empower industries and cities to achieve deep decarbonization in the fastest possible timeframe. We design, build, finance and operate zero-carbon Clean Heat systems which allow clients to significantly reduce their carbon footprint with no upfront investment.

Our proprietary AI-driven analysis & design tools dramatically reduce the cost and time required to identify optimal heat decarbonization strategies, while our deep EPC expertise and supplier relationships ensure smooth project delivery.

We deliver affordable secure clean heat on 10-40 year contracts at stable guaranteed prices. By eliminating energy price risk and volatility, clients gain valuable planning stability in addition to cost-effective deep decarbonization.

Steven Geiger Thermaxa Energy clean heat

Steven Geiger

Co-founder, CEO

Steven is a leading authority on Energy Transition investments and decarbonization.

As Co-founder and Director of Abu Dhabi’s Masdar, he was instrumental in building a 5-person startup into a $15 billion global leader in renewable energy. While at Masdar, he originated & executed over $600 million of clean energy investments and built a €200 million solar manufacturing company in Germany in less than 2 years.

He also was COO of a $4 billion company which built a greenfield energy & technology development zone modelled on Silicon Valley and in partnership with MIT.

Steven’s 12 years working in the oil & gas industry provides further valuable insight how to decarbonize existing energy systems quickly and affordably.

He holds a BSc from MIT and an MBA from Wharton Business School.

Joachim Krueger

Dr. Joachim Krueger

Co-founder, CTO

With over 30 years pioneering solar thermal development, Joachim is a recognized global authority in solar heating and holds multiple world records in the field.

Since 2006 as founder and CEO of Solarlite in Germany, he has led key developments the global solar thermal industry. In 2009 he built the world’s first operating CSP (concentrating solar power) power plant using direct-steam troughs. Later he set the world record for highest temperatures achieved with a direct-steam trough (510 C°).

His core high-temperature heat expertise and patented technology provides a significant advantage in decarbonizing industrial process heat and city district heating.

Joachim is the President of the EU Solar Thermal Industry Association (ESTELLA) and a board member of the German Solar Association (BSW). He regularly advises various government ministries on energy policy and energy transition.

He holds a MSc from Humboldt University-Berlin and a PhD in Renewable Energy from Naresuan University.

Alex OCinneade

Dr. Alex OCinneade

Advisor

Alex is the founder and CEO of Gore Street Capital, and one of the most experienced energy storage asset managers.

He pioneered the BESS energy storage asset class, launching the 1st publicly-listed energy storage fund in the UK on the London Stock Exchange in 2018. He has built the Gore Street Battery Storage Fund into one of the world’s largest and most-diversified energy storage funds, with 1.2 GW of storage assets spanning 3 continents and 6 countries.

Prior to founding Gore Street, Alex was Head of Investment for Abu Dhabi’s Masdar, where he managed two Cleantech investment funds totaling over $500 million.

Earlier in his career he was Managing Director and Head of Europe for Paladin Capital, and a Senior Advisor to Kleinwort Benson Bank in London.

Alex holds an MSc from London Business School and a PhD in Energy from Trinity College in Dublin.
